Skills Training

"We need more facilities and opportunities"

This is one constant requests that we receive through email communications, personal interactions and our studies  -  the request for skills training.  This training is important as it opens the door of opportunity to the unemployed to acquire crucial life skills, become gainfully employed or to start their own businesses.  The career choices and options in Africa are in desperate need of enhancement.   This project area ties in closely with education enhancement (one of Develop Africa's focus areas). 

Education is crucial to ensuring the empowerment and development of Africa. Many youths do not have access to equipped facilities for training in valuable skills that will enable them to be gainfully employed or run their own businesses.

Develop Africa needs your help with expanding the efforts of 2 vital community skills development center in Africa. Many of students do not have the financial resources to pay for this training. These centers need money to expand their offerings as there has been increased demand both in terms of participants and requested training offerings. These centers provide training in the following areas:

  • Gara, Tie-Die and Batik
  • Tailoring / Sewing
  • Carpentry
  • Secretarial Studies
  • Basic Computer Skills
  • Soap Making
  • Hair Dressing
  • Adult Literacy
