Class Project for the Common Good - Books For Africa

People are genuinely interested in doing good.  Here's one additional story:

Dear Dr. Renner:

I had a blast doing this project.   We did this project for a class in our school called Common Good.  Christian wanted to donate books to our local library but I convinced him to collect books for people in Africa.  In my opinion people in almost every country in Africa have poverty problems.  I thought if we could send a lot of books there than we would be helping a lot of people a lot.  I do want to help people because I am so lucky to be healthy and educated.  I sometimes think about what if I had been born as some one in a poor country.  I want to help other people because I believe that every one should be happy, healthy, and not live in poverty.  I think Christian feels the same way.

Getting the money was very easy.  We just went to the local train station one afternoon and sold cookies.  We made $71 but got more donations than cookies sold.  Christian also raised money at his church.  The books we got by just leaving colection bags in a restaurant -- Quiznos -- and the Northbrook Public Library for a week.

Sincerely

James S.-B.
