I’m writing today to tell you about an innovative project working to provide girls with enhanced education training and technology in impoverished Sierra Leone.   I was shocked and saddened to learn about the many barriers girls face when pursing education: everything from burdensome chores at home to a lack of money for school supplies, tuition and school-related expenses etc.   When I think about a small girl up against so many obstacles just to go to school and learn it makes me sad.  Even when in school, the girls do not have access to enhanced learning and technology that are essential in today's digital age.   No girl should be denied access to a quality, technology-enhanced education because she’s disadvantaged and lives in a developing country.  Quite the opposite in fact, more girls need to be given a quality education to break this cycle of poverty and create a healthy, stronger nation.

That’s why I decided to donate to the project Empower Girls, Provide Computer Training.  Through this project, girls in Sierra Leone have access to enhanced educational opportunities and training as they work to educate themselves for a secure and successful future.  From October 15 to November 15, I’m asking you to give too because the project is eligible to win fundraising support through the Girl Effect Challenge.  It doesn’t have to be much, just $10 will provide a computer mouse, $25 will provide a computer training manual for 5 girls and $48 will cover instruction and generator fuel for 1 day!  Each donation made between October 15 and  November 15 will help the project increase its visibility and access to new donors so that they can help even more girls in Sierra Leone.
