Tribute to Rashid Conteh

The Develop Africa Team was heartbroken to learn of the passing away of Rashid S. Conteh early in October.

In 2017, the Conteh family - Beth, Nelson, Rashid, and Swaray coordinated an effort that enriched the lives of the 22 orphans at the Dream Home orphanage in Sierra Leone.

Working with OSLIN (Organizational of Sierra Leoneans in Indiana (OSLIN) and Saint Andrew Presbyterian Church, Indianapolis, IN, they provided 12 bunk beds, 24 mattresses, and a sofa/chair set.  Nelson and Swaray represented the family in Sierra Leone for the presentation of these items.

In 2018, the Conteh family again visited the Dream Home orphanage.  Rashid, Swaray, and Beth ensured each child received a custom gift bundle (pillowcase, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, washcloth, underwear – for older boys – socks and undershirts for older girls – socks, bras, and tank tops) – 2 soccer balls, ball pump, and first aid kit).

Rashid and his family went above and beyond! Their investment of time and energy to make this all happen amazed us.

Rashid is wearing a cap in the photos in this album -https://developafrica.smugmug.com/April-1-2018-Dream-Home-Visit-Beth/n-fsX9xz/i-ddR8F4W.

The Develop Africa team was deeply touched by Rashid’s love and demonstrated support for the orphans at the Dream Home. It brought smiles to their faces and made a significant difference in the kids' lives. It made them feel special.

Rashid, we will never forget your kindness, warmth, and generosity.

The Develop Africa team.

Families in Sierra Leone face unprecedented challenges due to rising costs. Inflation makes it difficult for them to afford basic food staples such as rice, cooking oil, and onions.

Extending a helping hand can alleviate a significant burden and provide essential relief to the less fortunate.
