Building Meaningful Connections Between Sponsors and Beneficiaries

At Develop Africa Sierra Leone (DASL), sponsorship goes beyond providing financial and educational support. We also create opportunities for sponsors and beneficiaries to communicate and build meaningful connections.
Through letters and other approved forms of communication, beneficiaries can share updates about their education, achievements, interests, aspirations, and experiences with their sponsors.
Recently, Marina visited the DASL office after receiving a letter from her sponsor. The team guided her through the process of preparing her response while allowing her to express herself in her own words.
The process gave Marina an opportunity to reflect on her educational journey, share her experiences, and express her appreciation for the continued support she has received.
Sponsor–beneficiary communication also helps DASL maintain a safe and structured process. The team reviews incoming communication, guides beneficiaries when needed, and keeps appropriate records to ensure correspondence is handled responsibly.
Every letter exchanged is more than a piece of correspondence. It gives a sponsor the opportunity to hear directly from the child they support and gives the beneficiary a chance to share their journey with someone who believes in their future
