Develop Africa is grateful for the trust you place in us. This policy explains what information we collect through developafrica.org and our donation pages, how we use it, and the choices you have.

What we collect
When you donate, we collect your name, email address, mailing address, and gift details. You enter card and bank details on a secure payment form processed by Stripe. Develop Africa never sees or stores your full card number.

When you subscribe to our newsletter, contact us, or complete a form, we collect the information you choose to provide.

When you browse our site, we collect basic technical information, such as browser type and pages visited, through cookies and Google Analytics. We use it only in aggregate to improve the site.

You can browse our website without providing any personal information.

How we use your information
We use it to process your gift and send your tax receipt, to share updates on our programs and occasional giving opportunities, to answer your questions, to keep the records required of a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and to improve our website.

Who we share it with
We never sell, rent, trade, or swap donor information, including with other charities. We share it only with the service providers that help us operate:

• REACH (donor and sponsorship management)
• Stripe (payment processing)
• Google Workspace (email and records)
• Constant Contact (email newsletters)

These providers may use your information only to provide services to Develop Africa. If you give through GlobalGiving or another platform, that platform's privacy policy also applies. We may disclose information to our auditors, or when required by law.

No advertising tracking
We do not use advertising or social media tracking tools, such as the Meta (Facebook) Pixel, on our website or donation pages. We have also turned off Google Analytics features that share data for advertising. If this ever changes, we will update this policy first.

Cookies
We use essential cookies so our donation forms work properly, and Google Analytics cookies to understand site traffic in aggregate. You can turn off cookies in your browser settings, though some features, such as the donation form, may not work as expected.

Your choices

• Unsubscribe from our emails at any time using the link at the bottom of each message.
• Our newsletters, sent through Constant Contact, tell us whether you opened an email and which links you clicked, so we know what our supporters find useful. You can limit this by turning off images in your email program.
• Ask us to list your gift as anonymous or keep your name off any published donor list.
• Ask to review, correct, or delete your information. We keep only what the law requires for tax and financial records.

How we protect your information
Our site and donation pages use encrypted (HTTPS) connections. A PCI-compliant processor handles payments. Only staff and volunteers who need access can view donor records.

Children
Our website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information online. We handle information about students under our safeguarding policy.

Links to other sites
Our site links to other websites, which have their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for their practices.

Changes to this policy
We will post any changes on this page and update the date above.
