Successful Screening of New Leaders Completed

We have just completed screening for the 2020 Young Leaders Mentoring Program.

As part of this process, we interviewed a large pool of applicants with the goal of selecting 50 students. These 50 students will be trained as Change Champions, Leaders and Peer Mentors across the 10 public high schools we have adopted this year.

Mabinty is Thankful for her Vocational Training

After the Ebola Epidemic, Develop Africa Sierra Leone set up a Tailoring Training Center for young ladies with the objective of helping young girls to learn sewing skills, empower themselves and become self-reliant. Your ongoing support has helped multiple vocational trainees get the training they need to be self-reliant.  Mabinty tells us in this video how vocational training has helped her

It was such a thrilling experience

As part of our goal to help develop the next generation of leaders, we recently helped sponsor a leadership training event thanks in part to your generous donations.

A New Young Leader Emerges

Your support is helping young adults in Nigeria get the mentoring support they need to become successful adults.  Bukola is one of the young adults that are already making a difference thanks to the mentoring program she was able to attend thanks in part to your support.  Bukola is a 15 years old, senior secondary school student in Lagos, Nigeria.  Read in her own words how she was able to make a difference in her community:

Baby Care Helps Moms Return to School

Many young women in Sierra Leone struggle to complete their education.  Pregnant young women have an even greater challenge.  But the greatest struggle is for the young mom  - who has no one to care for her young baby so that she can go to school.  Before your help, young moms either were unable to come to class or had to bring their babies with them.

Make a Difference Today: Donate to the Year of the Pencil Campaign

On November 20th, this movement placed over 100,000 pencils into the hands

of children across Sierra Leone in 20 schools.

Each pencil tells a story — of hope, opportunity, and possibility.

Education is more than lessons — it’s liberation.

Every $25 helps children write their dreams.
