Celebrating International Women's Day

As we celebrate International Women's Day, we reflect on some of the girls and women who have been empowered by your generous support with computer training, vocational training, and microfinance loans for small businesses in Sierra Leone.

We invite you to watch this video that shares stories of how your support has empowered these beneficiaries

Hi, I’m Theresa Harding, Programs Coordinator, at Develop Africa Sierra Leone. Since inception, we’ve provided educational scholarships, girls' mentoring platforms, vocational training opportunities, and interest-free microfinance to vulnerable women in deprived communities in Sierra Leone. We are happy to join the world, to celebrate International Women's Day. In that regard, we want to share with you, stories from our beneficiaries.

We are Develop Africa girls, as we celebrate International Women's day today, we want to say a happy International Women’s day to all the women in the World.

My name is Isha. I want to say thank you to Develop Africa donors for giving me the opportunity to learn how to use a computer.

Hello, my name is Agnes; I am part of Develop Africa and I am also part of the vocational institute training center. I can now sew my dress and I have my equipment with me. Thanks very much for your support.

Hello! My name is Olivette. I thank God for Develop Africa, especially the microfinance loans. I want to thank all those who have been contributing to this organization to ensure that we have microfinance loans. The microfinance loan has indeed been a source of blessing to us.

Hello, my name is Haja, a beneficiary of Develop Africa. As we celebrate this year’s International Women’s day, I want to say a very big "thank you" to Develop Africa, and to my mom for giving me the opportunity to go to school.

For the month of March, in honor of International Women's Day, we invite you to join us in empowering more young women with vocational training, computer training, and providing microfinance loans to small women-owned businesses by donating to this appeal we shared on March 1st.

Make a Difference Today: Donate to the Year of the Pencil Campaign

On November 20th, this movement placed over 100,000 pencils into the hands

of children across Sierra Leone in 20 schools.

Each pencil tells a story — of hope, opportunity, and possibility.

Education is more than lessons — it’s liberation.

Every $25 helps children write their dreams.
