Computers Are the Gateway to the Future

FAWE students with computers
Today we reflect on Martin Luther King Jr.'s " I Have a Dream " speech given in Washington, D.C. in 1963. Dr. King envisioned a future of equal opportunity for all people, regardless of race.

MLK Day reminds us all how far we've come in the world, but also highlights the work yet to be done.
At the FAWE school Computer lab in Sierra Leone, since 2012, Develop Africa has been providing computer training to girls. This training is helping to ensure that underprivileged girls have equal opportunity and access to empowering computer training. The girls and school authorities are extremely grateful for the training.

However, the computers are now 7 years old or more. We want to replace them with 17 new, energy-efficient, Raspberry PI 3 computers - specially built for low energy consumption. Access to new computers (with current software) will enhance their learning.

We need your help!

The new computers will also be more reliable - contributing to better access and less downtime - so that each girl will have more hands-on experience. The computers will help prepare them for success in today's computer-driven society.

Be a part of the solution!

So we as you reflect on how you can help make equal opportunity a reality for all, we invite you to make a donation of $50 or more today.
Help level the playing field and provide access to a new computer today!

Make a Difference Today: Donate to the Year of the Pencil Campaign

On November 20th, this movement placed over 100,000 pencils into the hands

of children across Sierra Leone in 20 schools.

Each pencil tells a story — of hope, opportunity, and possibility.

Education is more than lessons — it’s liberation.

Every $25 helps children write their dreams.
