Educate A Girl, Educate A Nation

EDUCATE A GIRL, EDUCATE A NATION

Educate a girl educate a nation

October 11 is the International Day of the Girl Child. It's a UN day - dedicated  “ to help galvanize worldwide enthusiasm for goals to better girls’ lives, providing an opportunity for them to show leadership and reach their full potential .”

For $120 you can cover a girl's tuition for school for a year

According to UNICEF 2016 statistics, among youths 15-24 yrs in Sierra Leone, from 2009-2014, the literacy rate for males is 73% and that of girls is 56%. A preference for boys' education remains dominant in many family / community circles - with boys getting priority access to limited opportunities. This mindset has impeded the progress and development of girls .

Girls who are encouraged to continue their education have the life skills and mindset needed for success and continual progress. At-risk girls are maturing into well-educated, emancipated, gainfully employed and self-sufficient women.

These empowered women are the pillars of their families, communities and the nation. When the mother of the home is educated, the health, well-being and success of the entire family is propelled forward and transformed. Educated girls educate the entire nation .

Today, we invite you to send a girl to school for 1 year . You will receive a thank you letter and photo from the girl receiving your support.

Thanks so much for helping to give girls an opportunity to reach their full potential.

Make a Difference Today: Donate to the Year of the Pencil Campaign

On November 20th, this movement placed over 100,000 pencils into the hands

of children across Sierra Leone in 20 schools.

Each pencil tells a story — of hope, opportunity, and possibility.

Education is more than lessons — it’s liberation.

Every $25 helps children write their dreams.
