Emmanuel - The Inventor
I started creativity from childhood - creating amazing technology to solve the electricity problem at home. During the night, we used this energy to study and charge mobile phones.
In the year 2014, I built a local radio transmitter that was used to sensitize people during the Ebola pandemic. In early 2018, I built the first locally made solar-powered tricycle for a disabled person
And in late 2018, the idea of the Solar Imagination Car was originated
What do I need help with going forward?
I would like to bring clean non-fossil energy to Sierra Leone and Africa - solving the problem of energy through innovation. I have already done groundbreaking prototypes that work remarkably fine in the area of energy and cars.
With the funds raised, I would like to start an energy project. I practically survived my high school studies studying under street lights at night by the highway. Too many teenagers have fallen victim to early pregnancy while looking for electricity to sustain their night studies. With these funds, we will be solving more than just energy problems.
What are my goals for the next 5 to 10 years?
I am planning to build a car that will reduce the risk of contracting communicable and respiratory diseases like lung cancer, asthma, etc. These diseases are caused or aggravated by the inhaling of hazardous fumes emitted by fossil-fuel cars.
I plan to contribute towards goal 7 of the SDGs: Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy for all.
The world is driving towards renewable energy. Many countries globally have started using electric vehicles.
It’s time that Sierra Leone starts work in this direction. I believe I can do this for my country and Africa.
