Isaiah's Story: How Sponsorship Supports Education in Sierra Leone

Who Isaiah Is

isaiah Koroma a beneficiary of develop africa standing outside his parents' home

Isaiah is an 11-year-old student in Class Six at Rural Education Community Primary School in Bathurst Village, Sierra Leone.
He walks to school every day.
His community faces sanitation and economic challenges.

Despite this, Isaiah wants to become a lawyer.

Why Support Matters

Isaiah's family struggles to meet daily needs. Food support sent by sponsors helps them cope and stay stable. This support allows Isaiah to focus on school instead of survival.

Sponsorship does more than cover costs. It protects a child’s chance to learn.

What Develop Africa Does

  • Develop Africa regularly visits sponsored students.

  • The team checks on health, school attendance, and living conditions.

  • They deliver food and other essential support from sponsors.

This keeps aid accountable and personal.

Make a Difference Today: Donate to the Year of the Pencil Campaign

On November 20th, this movement placed over 100,000 pencils into the hands

of children across Sierra Leone in 20 schools.

Each pencil tells a story — of hope, opportunity, and possibility.

Education is more than lessons — it’s liberation.

Every $25 helps children write their dreams.
