It’s Almost Here! Counting Down — and Counting Pencils!
The excitement is building in Sierra Leone as we prepare for The Year of the Pencil distribution on November 20th (World Children’s Day)!
Behind the scenes, the Develop Africa Sierra Leone team has been hard at work — counting, sorting, and packaging thousands of pencils that will soon be placed into the hands of eager students across 19 schools.
Over the past few weeks, staff, Computer Studies students, and sponsorship beneficiaries have come together to make sure every pencil is ready for delivery. Their teamwork and enthusiasm show what this project is all about — community, education, and hope.
Here’s what some of the students helping behind the scenes had to say:
“I feel proud knowing these pencils will support other students like me.” – Mbalu
“Every pencil we count represents hope and opportunity for another child to learn.” – Musa
Each pencil may seem small, but to a child in Sierra Leone, it’s a powerful tool for learning and a symbol of possibility. Every pencil tells a story.
"It's not just about pencils, it's about purpose." -Sylvester Renner, President, Develop Africa
We’re so close to distribution day — and there’s still time for you to be part of this incredible movement!
