Read the Introduction to Develop Africa's Leadership Development Program

Our Approach:

Our approach is holistic in nature. Through personal knowledge and an in-depth understanding of the African psych, the team at Develop Africa Inc translate key principles of leadership that are already within the context of the African mindset converting it to leadership development models and concepts.  We also focus on the leader as a person and promote self leadership development rather than focusing solely on skills acquisition.

We approach leadership development training from the perspective of the different elements of a person: the social –emotional, the spiritual, the physical and the mental Participants identify the variety of different roles they play, not just work, but also at home, in their family and in their community.  Most importantly, we utilize a key element of the Africa cultural heritage story telling techniques to pass on lessons of leadership development through Africa proverbs, folklores and wise sayings.

The power and novelty of this approach is that in the past few LDPs have focused on the leader as an individual human being. Develop Africa Inc’s approach emphasizes the importance in leadership training with particular reference to African cultural heritage of passing generational kinship/ ties from generation to generation.   This practice has been a source of guidance for communities in times of peace, uncertainty, birth, life and death. At its best it has been the basis for identity, respect and self confidence in African communities. It has enabled the people of Africa to live in harmony with their physical, social and spiritual environment. It provides our foundation for leadership, problem solving, decision making and hope for the future.

Develop Africa Inc’s approach can be summarized as follows –

  1. Holistic Leadership: Focusing on the leader as an individual whole– promoting self leadership
  2. Innovative Indigenous Leadership: Utilizing culture-specific resources and strategies to promote leadership capacity and development. (Story telling, folklore, proverbs)
  3. Creative Practitioners Approach:  Emphasizing the “go and do” approach.
  4. Result -based Approach: Promoting self reflection and measurable outcome assessment/ results

Our Strategy

Personal leadership and self-management have to do with knowledge and skills on a personal level, especially personal attitude, life purpose and values. More often than we realise the lack of organizational effectiveness and motivation has very little to do with people's organizational skills, and a lot to do with personal leadership and self-management. We conduct a four (4) day program /workshop open  to civic leaders, political leaders, journalists, youth, teachers and educators, leaders of NGO,  grass root groups, church leaders, and  entrepreneurs from the private sector. We regard each workshop and individual participant as unique and therefore tailor our interventions to suite our client's needs.

Our Programs

Our interventions are designed to facilitate development processes in individuals and organizations, rather than providing expert solutions or "quick fixes&quo
