Mentoring Girls March Program- Dental Hygiene

Thanks to your ongoing support, the Develop Africa Sierra Leone (DASL) team held another girls’ mentoring program this past week on the topic of dental hygiene. Twenty-one young ladies between the ages of 10-20 years old in Freetown attended March’s mentoring session.

The purpose of this month's girls mentoring session was on dental hygiene (in particular teeth brushing) among the girls and to identify the importance of dental health education. The guest speaker demonstrated appropriate tooth brushing by using circular tooth brushing starting with the outer components of the teeth and ending with the inner components of the teeth. She then gave each girl a new toothbrush and toothpaste. Then the attendees all enjoyed a meal.

The girls' mentoring program focuses on a different topic each month geared toward helping girls develop positive self-esteem and also provides guidance in taking actions that promote their health and well-being.   Your support is changing girls' lives. Our recurring donors are making a continuous impact and we are truly grateful for the ongoing support.

If you are not yet a recurring donor, we warmly invite you to consider setting up a recurring donation. Even a few dollars a month will go a long way. Consistent support is the key as this is the best way to ensure ongoing impact.

On November 20th, this movement placed over 100,000 pencils into the hands

of children across Sierra Leone in 20 schools.

Each pencil tells a story — of hope, opportunity, and possibility.

Education is more than lessons — it’s liberation.

Every $25 helps children write their dreams.
