The National School for the Deaf are Thankful for the Supplies

Thanks to the generosity of donors like you, Develop Africa recently visited the National School for the Deaf in Sierra Leone to deliver essential school supplies—bringing both practical support and encouragement to students who are too often overlooked.

With your support, students received clothing, books, crayons, and pencils, items that are vital not only for learning but also for creativity, self-expression, and confidence. These simple yet powerful tools help students fully participate in their education and feel valued in their classrooms.

The National School for the Deaf is owned by the Sierra Leone Society for the Deaf and supported by the government through the Ministry of Education. While the school plays a critical role in providing access to education for deaf students, resources are limited—making donor support especially meaningful.

Thank you to Step2Shine for donating costumes and dance attire. The students were all smiles receiving the costumes.

Your generosity sends a powerful message to these students: you are seen, you are capable, and you matter. By investing in inclusive education, you are helping ensure that every child—regardless of ability—has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.

Make a Difference Today: Donate to the Year of the Pencil Campaign

On November 20th, this movement placed over 100,000 pencils into the hands

of children across Sierra Leone in 20 schools.

Each pencil tells a story — of hope, opportunity, and possibility.

Education is more than lessons — it’s liberation.

Every $25 helps children write their dreams.
