Before students can begin their computer lessons, there is important preparation happening behind the scenes.
As FAWE School for Girls in Sierra Leone begins a new academic session, preparations are underway at the FAWE Computer Lab to get the learning environment ready and coordinate the upcoming computer classes.
In a recent video update, Johanese shared some of the work taking place, including cleaning the computer lab with students and communicating with school staff about the timetable for computer lessons.
Getting the FAWE Computer Lab Ready
One of the first steps has been preparing the physical learning space.
Johanese explained that he and some of the students had just finished cleaning the FAWE Computer Lab in preparation for the new school session.
This work is part of making sure the room is ready when computer lessons begin.
While cleaning a classroom may seem like a small task, maintaining a suitable learning environment is an important part of supporting educational activities.
Coordinating the Computer Class Schedule
With FAWE School for Girls recently reopened, the timetable for the new academic session is still being developed.
Johanese explained that he has been communicating with school staff about setting aside specific times for students to attend computer classes.
The school is reviewing its timetable for the new session, and the computer class schedule will need to fit into those arrangements.
In the meantime, preparations for the classes are continuing.
The Work Behind Computer Education
Providing opportunities for students to learn computer skills involves more than having computers available.
It also requires coordination with schools, preparing learning spaces, and organizing class schedules so students can participate in lessons.
Johanese's update from the FAWE Computer Lab offers a glimpse into this practical work.
At Develop Africa, we recognize that these preparations are part of creating opportunities for students to develop valuable digital skills.
As FAWE School for Girls finalizes its timetable, we look forward to students returning to the computer lab for their lessons.
Thank you to our supporters for helping Develop Africa continue its efforts to expand educational and digital learning opportunities for students in Sierra Leone.
