Promise of Hope Scholarship Launched in Kenya

Education is a key component of development.  To this end, Develop Africa continues to expand its commitment to empowering the future of Africa, by supporting their education and development.  Investment in people - a vital resource - is an important key to ensuring the development of Africa.  Better and more qualified people will result in a better continent.

September 2007 -  Go Kenya!  Two Kenyan students have received Develop Africa's Promise of Hope Scholarship.  The two students - Leonard Ouma of St. Joseph's Moody Awory Secondary School and Edgar Oyoda of St. Mary's High School - and their families are grateful to have been selected to receive Develop Africa's Promise of Hope Scholarship.

An email message from our Coordinator in Kenya reads:  “Thanks for your efforts towards the scholarship recipient families. They are really grateful for your love and concern. They had really longed for such kind of opportunity, but God has used you to save them from hopelessness.  ... The school Board of Governors. the school community, the parents and the students were really grateful and they wish that Develop Africa will prosper and bring hope to other members of the community."

Make a Difference Today: Donate to the Year of the Pencil Campaign

On November 20th, this movement placed over 100,000 pencils into the hands

of children across Sierra Leone in 20 schools.

Each pencil tells a story — of hope, opportunity, and possibility.

Education is more than lessons — it’s liberation.

Every $25 helps children write their dreams.
