Through the generous support of donors, Develop Africa has been instrumental in providing critical resources and opportunities to empower women in Sierra Leone. One such individual whose life has been positively impacted is Salamatu, a single-parent mother and proud beneficiary of Develop Africa's programs. Salamatu's journey is a testament to the power of education and support in empowering women to overcome barriers and pursue their dreams. 

As we celebrate International Women's Day on March 8th, we emphasize the urgent need for collective action to achieve gender equality.

This is important as a moral imperative and essential for fostering prosperous economies.  This also ensures a sustainable future for generations to come.

Your generous contributions have made a significant impact on the lives of students like Magdalene, who recently received school support. Magdalene, who is on the verge of completing her final year of Senior Secondary School (SSS), will be sitting for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) in May—a pivotal milestone in her educational journey.

Presently, the Develop Africa Sierra Leone (DASL) Computer Lab has seventy-four students enrolled in computer classes. The classes operate across three shifts—one in the morning and two in the afternoon—spanning from Monday to Friday.

The computer training covers a curriculum that includes Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Access, Microsoft PowerPoint, as well as Hardware and Networking. Each class is structured to ensure that every student has access to an individual computer, with class timings and days varying based on the respective groups.

Girls' mentoring sessions are held throughout the year covering a multitude of topics. One topic was drug abuse and its effects, and to make it more interactive the girls were split into groups and were told to write their own play and then act out the skit on why youngsters resorted to taking drugs and how they could seek help if they were struggling with drugs.  

Your support continues to help girls get their education. One of the girls your support has recently helped is Numu, who received school supplies and tuition support for this school year. She is in Junior Secondary School (JSS) and her favorite subject is social studies. Numu enjoys reading and she aspires to become a lawyer when she is older.
