Review of Our Impact and Transition for Creating Pathways

Develop Africa launched a GlobalGiving project to provide and report on remedial training to 100 girls who became pregnant during the Ebola crisis (and were temporarily out of school). Over the past 2 years, we have provided support to over one hundred young ladies that dropped out of school.

Kids are Making Progress, Thanks to Your Support

Thanks to your support, we raised $188.52 since the last report. These funds have helped cover the running costs of the school and staff salaries.

Over the past semester, the younger kids have been learning how to read, spell and write. They are making progress despite the unfavorable learning environment - with many of them sitting on the floor.  This is the primary challenge that the school is currently facing - inadequate chairs.

Thank YOU For Bringing Sunshine to Susan

Susan (pictured) is 23 years old and is one of the young moms that received support because of YOUR donation.

Susan is currently staying with her elder brother at the Kama Yama Community. Both of are parents her deceased.  She is attending a cosmetology vocational institute.

We decided to provide to her part cash and part groceries (purchased from funds raised through this project). The items that we provided included pasta, potatoes, luncheon meat, a pineapple, bananas, and oranges.

Thank You for Providing Solar Lights in Liberia

Thank you for helping us provide solar lights to students in Liberia.  In Liberia, thousands of students have no choice at night but to use kerosene lanterns and open-flame candles - in order to be able to study or read. The smoke from these light sources is hazardous to their health. The flames are also a fire hazard.

Letter from Aisha for Her Sponsor

This Child Sponsorship Update gives you a look into the relationship / communication between children and their sponsors.  This is actual communication exchanged between a child and his / her sponsor.

In Aisha's letter to her sponsor she says:

Mabinty & Aisha Love Their New Glasses

Thanks to your support we successfully raised $350. Aisha and Mabinty now have reading glasses.

Both girls are so grateful to the donors that covered the cost of their eye exams and glasses.  They say that they enjoy going to school more - thanks to their new glasses; now they can see the blackboard clearly without squinting or straining their eyes.

The Sisters are Doing Well in School

Thank you so much for helping to provide scholarships for three sisters who became orphans during the Ebola crisis. Thanks to your support, Fatmata, Hannah, and Flourence have received some of the funding they need to pay for their tuition, books, school supplies and related school expenses this year. We are so very grateful for your support that is getting these sisters closer to their dream jobs as adults.
