We are so happy to report that schools in Sierra Leone will reopen in March after being closed for eight months due to the Ebola outbreak. Students have been off from school for nearly a year.


The reopening of schools is a sign that the tide is turning against the Ebola crisis. The World Health Organization recently reported that Ebola cases are rapidly decreasing. The number of new cases has declined steadily over the past 5 weeks.  The outbreak has been the worst on record, with Sierra Leone being the most affected. 



To ensure a safe environment, chlorinated water for disinfecting will be made available in schools. One of the first signs of having the virus is a high temperature. So, teachers have been trained to use thermometers to monitor student temperatures. 



When school reopens, we need to start strong by providing scholarships, uniforms and school supplies for up to a hundred new children. About 40 of these children have been orphaned during this crisis.  Can you join us in providing the gift of education to deserving children - such as Fatmata (pictured)?  This is the best way to help the children recover from this crisis as they go back to school.
