Sharon Visits the FAWE School & Computer Lab
We are grateful to share reflections from a recent visit to the FAWE School for Girls by Sharon, an education professional visiting from the United Kingdom. Her experience offers a meaningful glimpse into the impact your support is making—especially in expanding access to computer education for girls.
During her visit, Sharon met with students and staff and toured the school, including the FAWE Computer Lab supported by Develop Africa. She shared how welcomed she felt by the school community and how impressed she was by the dedication of the teachers and leadership.
“The headteacher was so gracious—she took time out of her busy schedule to show me around and speak with me,” Sharon shared. “You can feel the passion and commitment in everything they do.”
As she walked through the classrooms, Sharon was touched by the warmth and enthusiasm of the students, from the joyful songs shared by the children to the friendly greetings she received in the Reception class. She noted how confident and open the students were—an early sign of a nurturing learning environment.
Sharon was especially impressed by the computer lab, describing it as well-organized and thoughtfully arranged. She praised the quality of instruction and the confidence the girls are already gaining through hands-on computer training. “The children are learning how to use computers confidently at such an early age,” she said. “The guidance and encouragement they receive are truly commendable.”
This visit is a powerful reminder of what your generosity makes possible. Because of supporters like you, girls at FAWE are gaining critical digital skills that will open doors to future education and career opportunities.
As we continue our commitment to empowering girls across Sierra Leone, we invite you to stay connected and keep making a difference. Together, we are building a stronger foundation for education—one classroom, one computer, and one student at a time.
