Volunteer of The Year 2012-2013 - Kerstin Wehner

The Develop Africa Board is delighted to present the Develop Africa Volunteer Award of the Year to Kerstin Wehner.

It has been our pleasure over the past year to work with Kerstin Wehner.  She has been a tremendous resource and extremely helpful.  As the President of Develop Africa, I had the opportunity to work closely with her and deeply appreciated her time and kind assistance.  In summary, as a result of her exemplary service over the past year, she was awarded with Develop Africa's Volunteer of the Year Award 2012 / 2013.

Specifically Kerstin was instrumental in 2 areas.  Firstly, she worked with donor communication, overseeing correspondence with donors that donated to our projects on GlobalGiving.org.  She handled this task effectively helping us to build relationships with donors.

Secondly, Kerstin was very instrumental with our accounting / financial system and with entering information into QuickBooks.  In this area she proved herself to be reliable and diligent.  She improved our record keeping and organization of receipts / invoices.  She creatively helped us better organize our filing system.  She made suggestions on how we could improve our processes.

Kerstin is a well-rounded person with great people skills.  She has a warm personality and is ever ready to help. Kerstin is a diligent and conscientious worker.   She was open and willing to learning new tasks and took on the challenge of working on tedious tasks with a smile.  She is flexible, dependable and a quick learner.

Brief bio of Kersin:
I am 29 years old. I am from Germany and attended my husband for a 2 years Host-Based-Delegation to the USA. During that time I worked for Develop Africa and I really loved it. Back in Germany I have studied Business Administration and have worked as an Human Resources Consultant.  In my free time I love to travel around the world, dance Salsa, play the ukulele or just enjoy life with my family and friends.
