Working Together to Build Stronger Communities

Recently, DASL participated in the Health Walk during National NGO Week, organized by the Sierra Leone Association of NGOs (SLANGO) in partnership with the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development (MOPED). This event brought together representatives from local and international NGOs, creating a strong sense of unity and shared commitment to improving lives across Sierra Leone.

Develop Africa was proudly represented by three dedicated team members—Joseph, Aminata, and Mariama—who joined fellow NGO staff and volunteers in the walk from the SOS School compound to Family Kingdom Resort at Aberdeen Beach. Completing the full distance symbolized not only wellness and teamwork but also the shared dedication of organizations working to support vulnerable communities.

Develop Africa Sierra Leone (DASL) also participated in the Parliament Open Day during the National NGO Week celebrations, an important event designed to strengthen collaboration between Parliament and the NGO community.

The event aimed to provide NGOs with a deeper understanding of Parliament’s oversight role, particularly in ensuring that development interventions effectively reach the intended beneficiaries across Sierra Leone.

The Vice President of Sierra Leone served as the keynote speaker and expressed appreciation for the important work carried out by NGOs throughout the country. In his remarks, he acknowledged the significant contributions NGOs make in areas such as education, healthcare, and community development, and emphasized the government’s interest in continuing strong partnerships with civil society organizations.

The Parliament Open Day provided a valuable platform for dialogue between government leaders and the NGO community. Discussions focused on transparency, accountability, and collaboration, all of which are essential for ensuring that development programs have a meaningful and lasting impact.

Develop Africa’s participation reflects its ongoing commitment to working collaboratively with government institutions, civil society partners, and local communities to support sustainable development and improve opportunities for people across Sierra Leone.
