World Food Day & Food for Families in Sierra Leone

October 16th is World Food Day, which focuses on the second sustainable development goal- Zero Hunger.

The majority of the world’s undernourished –more than 250 million live in Africa, where the number of undernourished is growing faster than anywhere in the world. https://www.un.org/sustainabledevelopment/hunger/

COVID-19 has made it even more challenging for families already living in poverty in Sierra Leone.  During these challenging times, your continued generosity is so greatly appreciated as it helps provide support to families in need in Sierra Leone.

Thanks to your support, multiple families were given food including a bag of rice, one gallon of cooking oil, and a bag of onions.   One of the families that recently received food sent this video of appreciation stating-

world food day

My name is Momoh, I want to say thank you on behalf of my family for this food during the Covid-19 pandemic, your support is timely.

Thank you Develop Africa for supporting us with these food items. Thank you!

As COVID-19 continues to be a challenge for all, especially those already struggling with hunger and poverty, we greatly appreciate your continued support in supporting families and helping to stop the spread of COVID-19 in Sierra Leone.

Please share this project with your contacts and invite them to consider supporting this ongoing project.

Families in Sierra Leone face unprecedented challenges due to rising costs. Inflation makes it difficult for them to afford basic food staples such as rice, cooking oil, and onions.

Extending a helping hand can alleviate a significant burden and provide essential relief to the less fortunate.
