Collette Bekaku, Founder/Executive Director CAPEC Cameroon partnered with her church, the United Methodist Women Association Cameroon – UMWAC and Develop Africa to create a project called “One child, one pencil” to collect and ship school supplies to students in Cameroon. 

We greatly appreciate your on-going support that continues to bring hope to flood victims in Freetown.   Many families in Sierra Leone were displaced due to the flooding and mudslide disaster that took place in August of 2017.   The Dumbuya family lost everything including their youngest daughter in the flood disaster.    

With your support, we provided the Dumbuya family with a new, safe home and items to go in their home including a wide range of food, cooking items, clothing, school supplies, and scholarships. 

After the Ebola Epidemic, Develop Africa Sierra Leone set up a Tailoring Training Center for young ladies with the objective of helping young girls to learn sewing skills, empower themselves and become self-reliant. Your ongoing support has helped multiple vocational trainees get the training they need to be self-reliant.  Mabinty tells us in this video how vocational training has helped her. 

We greatly appreciate your generous support that is empowering small businesses in Sierra Leone with interest-free microfinance loans. These microfinance or microcredit loans give individuals a helping hand to start their businesses or to help them grow their existing businesses. This helps parents set up small businesses that will empower them to take care of the basic needs of their homes and children.

The new school year has begun and students who would not have been able to afford school on their own were able to go to school thanks to you.  Your generous ongoing support is greatly appreciated!   The school set up new goals for the 2019-2020 school year based on information gathered from the 2018-2019 school year.

Many children and youths in Sierra Leone have no access to computers or computer learning opportunities due to financial limitations. We are so thankful for your continued support that is helping future leaders have the ability to study at night.  Lack of electricity is a challenge for many communities across Sierra Leone and school students living in those communities find it very challenging to read their notes and do their assignments at night.  Thanks to your support these students are receiving solar-powered lights like Bintu who was delighted to receive a solar light.
