In February 2010, Develop Africa provided full scholarships to 2 students - Fana and Naomi, students at Omega Training Institute (OTI) in The Gambia. They are both enrolled in OTI's Office Administration course. The course lasts between 9 months to 18 months or more depending upon the progress of the student through the course.
In November / December 2009, Develop Africa had the opportunity to send, in partnership with Nuwach Ministries an assortment of books and school supplies to Cheshire Home, a special needs children's home in Freetown.
The books were personally delivered by Gladys Palmer, the founder of Nuwach Ministries. The supplies were gratefully received by Mr. Foday, the Assistant Home Administrator.
Education is a key component of development. To this end, Develop Africa continues to expand its commitment to empowering the future of Africa, by supporting education and development. Develop Africa's Promise of Hope Scholarship Program continues to provide assistance and increase educational opportunities and access to children and youths who families lack the economic power to afford tuition fees and costs.
Through a new partnership with One Voice Liberia, Develop Africa has recently shipped books and printers to 2 pilot schools through One Voice Liberia.
Supporting and Empowering Special Needs Children: Develop Africa in partnership with Nuwach Ministries (www.nuwachministries.org) has provided 2 drums of books and school supplies to Cheshire Home – a special needs Home in Sierra Leone. Cheshire Home is a home in Freetown Sierra Leone that caters for the needs of special needs children.
Develop Africa is sponsoring and working in partnership with CAPEC on a special project - the Bitame Lucia Nursery and Primary School in Cameroon.
