Kindles Distributed to Future Leaders in Freetown

Update from Students that Received a Solar Book

Several months ago, 103 solar books were distributed to students in Sierra Leone. The solar books had been provided by a remarkable young lady named Cassidy who explained that she was passionate about helping to provide solar lights to kids in Africa. She had heard about and researched the situation in Africa - where many kids in Africa struggled to study at night, in the dark. 

FAWE Girls School Update

Your ongoing support is greatly appreciated and is helping girls get their education at the FAWE Girls School. This school year FAWE has 40 girls (ages 8-11 years) from classes 4,5 and 6 taking computer classes. These girls are excited and eager to learn and are thankful for the opportunity.

We greatly appreciate your support for future Sierra Leone leader, Stacy.  Your support helped cover her school-related expenses including- uniforms, books, school supplies, school fees, and related costs. DASL Computer Classes Update

Many youths and young adults in Sierra Leone have very limited access to computers or computer training due to financial limitations. Your continued support is greatly appreciated as more students can get computer training at the Develop Africa Sierra Leone Computer Lab (DASL). This will give them the tools they need to be successful in today's technology-driven society.

Bed Nets are Protecting Future Leaders from Malaria

Your continued support is greatly appreciated in providing long-lasting insecticide-treated nets (ITNs) to families and individuals in Freetown.  Because of the bed nets they received, children like Esther and Valentine pictured here can now focus on their education and futures and not on malaria.

BLIS Students Enjoy Field Trips

We greatly appreciate your continued support that is making a difference for students in Cameroon at the Bitame Lucia International School (BLIS). Thanks to your ongoing support several classes got to enjoy field trips these past few weeks.  

The class 3 pupils got to visit ECO PARK Yaounde where they had a tour in the zoo section of the Park and learn about various species of animals and they had the opportunity to feed the fish and also enjoy a horse ride around the park. They also learned about other services offered by the Park. 

Successful Screening of New Leaders Completed

We have just completed screening for the 2020 Young Leaders Mentoring Program.

As part of this process, we interviewed a large pool of applicants with the goal of selecting 50 students. These 50 students will be trained as Change Champions, Leaders and Peer Mentors across the 10 public high schools we have adopted this year.
